Outdoor Byelaws & League Rules

(revised April 2012)

 

Byelaws

 

(A)     The dress for male members during play is:-

 

(a)  For Club League, Club Competitions and roll-ups:-

·         White shirt with collar and short or long sleeves with or without a tie (however if a tie is worn it shall be the Club tie) or the Club Registered Shirt. The Club Logo and/or member’s name may be displayed. 

·         A white cardigan or pullover may be worn, again with optional Club logo and/or members name

·         Plain mid-grey trousers.

·         White, brown or grey regulation bowls shoes.

·         White shirt with collar and short or long sleeves, tie, white trousers & white shoes are to be worn when specified.

 

(b)  For Inter Club & Association Friendly games:-

The dress as will be as specified on the Team Sheet

 

(c)   For County League games:-

Dress will be in accordance with 1(A)(a) or as specified on the Team Sheet and the County League rules

 

(d) For County & National Competitions:-

Dress will be in accordance with 1(A)(a) or as specified in the County or National rules

 

(d)  In all matches, the Club Registered Jacket may be worn

 

(e)  Waterproofs, when worn, must be white

 

 

(B) The dress for lady members during play is:-

 

(a)      For Club League, Club Competitions and roll-ups:-  

·         Regulation grey skirts, trousers or cropped trousers. 

·         Club registered blouse or plain white collared tops with set in sleeves.

·         Club blue or white waistcoat or long sleeved fleece.

·         White gilet or jacket. 

·         Brown, grey or white regulation bowls shoes.

·         Optional brown tights or stockings.  White or grey socks with trousers.

·         White regulation skirts, trousers or cropped trousers to be worn when specified.

(b)      Breckland & Norwich Nines League:-

          Dress is in accordance with (B) (a) & team selection sheet.  

(c)      For Inter Club & Association friendly games:-

Dress is in accordance with (B) (a) & team selection sheet.

(d)      For County & National Competitions Dress is in accordance with (B) (a) or as specified in the NWBA or Bowls England rules.

(e)      In all games the Club Registered Jacket may be worn.

(f)      Waterproofs, when worn, must be white.

 

 

(C)     Occupation of the green will be determined by the following precedence:-

County Competitions

National (Bowls England) Competitions

County League matches

Other Inter Club leagues (e.g. Ashill & District Mixed Triples, Breckland & Norwich Nine)

Inter Club & other friendly matches

Club Leagues

Club Competitions

Roll ups

 

(D)     Games booked before 11.00am must have prior arrangement with the Office.

 

(E)     Animals are not allowed on the green.

 

(F)     Members are prohibited from altering any rink after it has been set by the Green-keeper.

 

(G)     Mobile phones must not be used on the green or in the surrounding area

 

(H)     Only those engaged in play to be on the green.

 

(I)     Matches, cigar and cigarette ends and pipe ash must not be dropped on the green

 

(J)     No person shall be allowed on the green unless wearing regulation bowling shoes.

 

(K)              If previously booked rinks are cancelled, then this must be shown on the Rink      Booking Sheets as free.

 

(L)     Each player is responsible for their own rink fee. The Team Leader of each team is responsible for collecting these fees from his/her own team before the game starts and also for completing the results sheet at the end of the game.

 

(M)    All league games will be played as shown in the fixture book except as stated in paragraph (C)

 

(N)    National & County Team Competitions can only be arranged through the Office. If the rink/rinks required have already been allocated, the affected teams or members will be informed of the changes and the match rearranged by mutual agreement. The Greens’ Committee reserves the right to cancel or re-arrange any game in exceptional circumstances.

 


League Rules

 

Rules for Monday Afternoon & Friday Evening Triples League

 

(a)              Each league game shall consist of 18 ends. If, during the game, the jack is played outside the boundaries of the rink, the end shall be replayed in the same direction unless otherwise agreed by the skips

 

(b)              Teams may comprise any mix of men or lady members.

 

(c)               There are no restrictions on the use of reserves except they must be registered with the Club League Secretary.

 

(d)              In inclement weather, games may be played indoors (where Indoor rink fees are payable) by mutual agreement. However a game started outside cannot be continued indoors.  The Outdoor Laws of the Sport of bowls (as referred to in 3(D) (e) will apply if a match is played indoors.

 

(e)              In the event of a clash with a Club, County or National Competition, illness or other reason deemed appropriate, games where reserves cannot be found may be postponed and rearranged by mutual consent on a rink that is normally vacant. The team postponing the match must notify the opposition team leader of the postponement. The team postponing the match will be responsible for the rearrangement of the match.

 

(f)                The highest placing will be awarded firstly on points, secondly on the greatest shot difference, and thirdly on greatest shot average.

 

(g)              Two points will be awarded to the winning team in each game and one point to both teams in a drawn game

 

(h)              In the event of fixtures not being fulfilled for any reason a points adjustment and rink fee penalty will be considered by a Reviewing Committee comprising the Club League Secretary, Ladies’ Secretary and Gentlemen’s Secretary and chaired by the Club Secretary

 

(i)                 At any time during a season, if a member or a team is considered to be acting in an unsportsmanlike manner then this will be referred to the Reviewing Committee comprising the Club League Secretary, Ladies’ Secretary and Gentlemen’s Secretary and chaired by the Club Secretary who shall take whatever action they consider necessary.

 

(j)                All games must be completed by the 31st August unless agreed with the Club League Secretary.

 

(k)               In all other respects the current Laws of the Sport of Bowls apply.


For all rules, common sense should prevail.

 

Any disputes must be referred to the Club League Secretary in writing and will then be referred to a Reviewing Committee comprising the Club League Secretary, Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Secretaries and chaired by the Club Secretary  whose decision on the resolution of such dispute shall be final.
